AESHIA DEVORE BRANCH
Founder, PRETTY GIRLS SWEAT
Inspired by former First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move campaign and motivated by motherhood, the once flourishing TV producer of Sundance’s docu-series Iconoclast, Aeshia DeVore Branch formed PRETTY GIRLS SWEAT, “a sisterhood and transformational wellness event series for women.”
A social entrepreneur, fitness influencer and childhood obesity prevention advocate who develops events, campaigns and products, Branch explains PGS’s mission is to inspire healthy practices in every facet of life.
“Health is wealth,” she says. “We train college students to be health leaders on campus and in their communities. Women make 80 percent of the healthcare decisions for their families. PRETTY GIRLS SWEAT is doing the footwork to stop the childhood obesity epidemic from affecting future generations.”
The Queens, N.Y., native says she committed to taking on a leadership role in the community as it pertains to health and wellness.
“I have this relentless fire inside of me to get things done,” she says. “I am also inspired to be a visionary and leader of a brand and a movement that will outlive me.” —Y.C.
