You would give anything to marry or remarry and have your wedding images captured in the unique and distinguished Amy Anaiz fashion. She has a style that brings fairy tales to life. Anaiz’s photos have such a deep, majestic richness to them that she is one of the most sought-after wedding photographers in the Big Apple.
Her brilliance was honed at an early age. “My mom is literally a magician with her hands. She can sew, paint, craft and design. You name it. She can master it,” she says. “Growing up in a crafty environment totally made me comfortable with coloring outside the lines. I like to think my eyes inherited the magic.”
First, she worked as a talent agent for New York City’s top still-life and beauty photographers. Secondly, she learned the ins and outs of advertising and commercial photography. Beautiful images surrounded her on a daily basis.
While representing talented photographers, Anaiz masterfully integrated her acquired knowledge and experience. Finally, she started a successful business. The New York Times, The Knot, Grace Ormonde, Style Me Pretty, Essence and Huffington Post and VH1, TLC, E! and HBO Latino featured her work.
On collaborating and storytelling…
With creative ideas that would rival the likes of Walt Disney, she explains how she takes the invisible and transforms it into a visual masterpiece. Anaiz also elaborated on the processing of ideas. “It depends on the situation. But I think that at the end of the day, it ends up being a full team collaboration.
A client may give me a general idea of what they’re seeking and I then run with that and add my own twist to it,” she continues. “When I have a team supporting me—whether it’s offering creative input or simply holding a light—it makes my work stronger. So I’m definitely always a team player.”
Anaiz believes that her signature style is her keen ability to create joyous and heartfelt imagery under flattering light. She says that her photos aim to tell a story of each couple. She draws the eye’s attention to their deep and beautifully emotional facial expressions. The factors that separate Amy Anaiz Photography from others are deliberate placement, personality, clean images and attention to detail are other.
Her biggest joy…
“Being the physical memory keeper for my clients. There is something extremely special about documenting the intimate moments that happen so quickly—but have significant meaning. In today’s world climate of extreme loss—knowing that many times I was the last one to photograph someone’s loved one—is something I truly will always carry in my heart.” —Chris Wyatt
