The “couple goals” universe was rocked today by the news that actress Tia Mowry and Cory Hardrict are ending their 14-year marriage.
In a thread of comments on one of Hardict’s recent Instagram posts, someone suggested that Cory “cheated on her,” and he responded, “Lies!”
According to reports, Mowry filed for divorce in Los Angeles County Courts, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason. In the legal documents obtained by The Blast, the actress has asked for joint custody of their children Cree, 11, and Cairo, 4. Mowry is asking the court to terminate its ability to award spousal support to either party. Additionally, she requested that the couple walk away with the assets they brought into the relationship.
The Sister Sister star confirmed the news by posting a throwback photo of her and Hardrict on Instagram with this message,
“I have always been honest with my fans, and today is no different. I wanted to share that Cory and I have decided to go our separate ways. These decisions are never easy, and not without sadness. We will maintain a friendship as we co-parent our beautiful children.”
The 44-year-old continued as stunned and supportive comments poured in,
“I am grateful for all the happy times we had together and want to thank my friends, family and fans for your love and support as we start this new chapter moving forward in our lives.”
The couple met on the set of Hollywood Horror. They dated for six years before Cory, 42, put a ring on it in 2008. In 2017, they were featured on the OWN series Black Love where Tia talked about overcoming tough times as a couple. She said, “There are times when I’m like, wow, last year was pretty tough. But, this year, it’s good that we stuck, you know, to it. Or we continued to be there for one another or had patience with one another and worked out whatever issues or difficulties that we were having. Because that next year is like a completely different year and an even better year.”
Mowry later added, “And I fall more and more and more in love with him. I really do.”
