The Atlanta Chapter of Jack & Jill of America recently hosted its sixth annual Bold Lips & Bow Ties event, affectionately known as #BLBT6, and it was a night to remember. This extravagant soirée took place at The Gathering Spot, an ideal backdrop for a night filled with sophistication, artistry, and philanthropy.
This year, the event continued its tradition of giving back to the community by honoring five remarkable organizations: Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA), SEMLinks, Kids Docs on Wheels, Silence the Shame, and The Jack and Jill of America Foundation. These organizations received support and recognition, exemplifying the commitment to making a positive impact on the Atlanta community.
The event’s success was made possible thanks to the generous support of its sponsors. The Diamond Sponsor, Home Depot, and the Titanium Sponsor, The Gibson Charitable Giving Fund(Dwight and Ericka Gibson), played a significant role in making #BLBT6 a reality. Furthermore, Platinum sponsors Microsoft, J.P. Morgan & Chase, Georgia Tech, Georgia Dermatology Partners, and Dr. Obi Ugwonali -Peachtree Orthopedics demonstrated their commitment to the cause and the Atlanta community.
In attendance was former Atlanta Mayor, Keisha Lance Bottoms, who is a proud member of the Atlanta Chapter of Jack and Jill. Additionally, current Mayor Andre Dickens, who has been a longtime supporter of Jack and Jill of America, delivered a heartfelt speech on the importance of community involvement. He emphasized the organization’s incredible work in nurturing future leaders and the impact it has on the city.
The #BLBT6 event unfolded in an atmosphere of luxury and grace, with a pink carpet to welcome guests. The enchanting sounds of flautist John William filled the air as guests enjoyed La fête du Rosè from a stunning wine skirt, courtesy of La fête du Rosè.
The event also celebrated the talents of various artists, including Robert Ector, Marcus Bishop, and Fahamu Pecou, whose work added a touch of culture and sophistication to the evening.
For those looking to tantalize their taste buds, the event featured spirit tastings by Brown Girl Brew and Greenwood Whiskey. The options were as diverse as they were delicious, providing a unique and enjoyable experience for all attendees.
Ladies in attendance had the opportunity to discover their perfect bold lip with lip demonstrations by Scoobie West Beauty and Power Beauty Collection. These beauty experts offered guidance and showcased the latest trends in makeup, adding an element of glamour to the event.
One of the standout features of #BLBT6 was the dessert bar, which featured the culinary artistry of some of Atlanta’s top African American pastry chefs. Kupcakerie, Buttafly Kisses, Operation Mini Donuts, A Pinch Bakery, Lanee’s Whoopie Pies, and KroyKorn Pop Korn served up delectable treats that delighted the senses and satisfied sweet cravings.
The evening was not without music, as DJ Tron, DJ Cinto and live music from The Tony Tatum Experience provided the sounds that kept the atmosphere lively and celebratory throughout the event.
In summary, Bold Lips & Bow Ties #BLBT6 was a night that combined style, culture, and philanthropy. “Bold Lips and Bow Ties is a particularly special event to me because it beautifully blends who we are and what we do,” said Mikki Anderson, President of the Atlanta Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. She went on to praise the hard work of the 200 members of the Atlanta Chapter and to proudly announce that this year’s event is the highest netting fundraiser in the chapter’s history, with preliminary numbers showing over $275,000 raised.
