October 9, 2023 the 4th annual Bobbi Kristina Serenity House Celebrity Golf Tournament was held at the Oaks Club at Valencia. This inspiring day of golf, entertainment, and community engagement was hosted by renowned singer and entertainer, Bobby Brown, and his wife Alicia Etheredge-Brown. Bobbi Kristina Brown was the daughter of Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown who passed away July 26, 2015, at age 22.
Celebrities and notable entertainers including Johnny Gill of New Edition, Anthony Anderson, Flex Alexander, Dondre’ Whitfield, Judge Greg Mathis, and Alex Thomas were in attendance. And Valencia, California’s Oaks Club at Valencia offered a picturesque setting for this purposeful gathering.
Founded in 2015 by Bobby Brown, the Bobbi Kristina Serenity House is a non-profit Domestic Violence Safe Haven born from a father’s love for his daughter, a victim of domestic violence. ‘We are one step closer to a world free from domestic violence,’ stated Bobby Brown.
Party with a Purpose
The day started with a range of putting and chipping contests. Participants showcased their skills and competed for exciting prizes. Throughout the course, attendees engaged in on-course contests and raffles, fostering friendly competition and excitement.
In addition to golf and various skills challenges, the event included a diverse range of activities promoting holistic health and self-care. From a wellness lounge that offered chair massages and body scans, to an oxygen bar for a refreshing break, participants were able to relax and rejuvenate.
Following the tournament, attendees gathered for a BBQ luncheon, raffle, and silent auction. This luncheon served as a platform for networking among participants, sponsors, and community members. Winners of the tournament and various contests were duly honored and recognized at this time. The event also offered a day of family fun with a mechanical bull, face painting, mini golf games, and more.
Domestic Violence Awareness Month
The Bobbi Kristina Serenity House remains steadfast in its commitment to empowerment. It also emphasizes the importance of reclaiming power from within rather than seeking external validation. The organization aspires to be the voice for the voiceless, making an enduring impact in the battle against domestic abuse. Alicia Etheredge-Brown stated, ‘Together, we can create a safer, more loving world for everyone.'”
Since 1989, October has been recognized as Domestic Violence Awareness Month. It is a time to acknowledge domestic violence survivors and be a voice for victims. Nationally, 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men have experienced physical violence by an intimate partner.
