Tasha Cobbs Leonard & Lecrae sat down for a conversation on mental health & new music
It’s Mental Health Awareness Month and gospel artists Tasha Cobbs Leonard and Lecrae have teamed up for a powerful conversation surrounding mental health and Christian music as well as the release of their inspirational new single, “Your Power.”
On the heels of the conversation, the Grammy, Stellar and Dove Award-winning artists made the surprising music debut on May 5, signaling their first collaboration.
“We’ve both had complex experiences in this industry. It was time to collaborate on a deep-rooted conversation about our stories and perspectives as established artists,” Lecrae shared on his Instagram account, with Leonard responding saying that the conversation was much needed.
“Your Power,” provides a genuinely transformative listening experience, encouraging people to lean into God for his grace, strength and power daily, especially in their darkest hour.
The two are confident that their powerful conversation about mental health and the state of Christian Music, coupled with the soul-stirring new song will strike a chord with audiences and bring together people of all backgrounds in a celebration of music and faith.
“We are just two artists coming together to make beautiful music and share a message of hope and encouragement. We believe that music has the power to inspire people, and we want to use our platforms to create messages of change, love, and unity,”says Lecrae.
The new single and conversation between the two artists was released in time for Mental Health Awareness Month to create dialogue around depression, therapy, and the pressure they’ve felt to be ideal role models.
They also talked about their “controversial” collaborations and how the backlash has impacted them.
Tasha was criticized for her single, “I’m Getting Ready,” ft. Nicki Minaj while Lecrae has been blasted for his “Blessings” single, featuring Ty Dolla $ign.
