Dr. Bernice King presented her first Beloved Community Awards program during the MLK weekend in Atlanta at the Hyatt Hotel in Atlanta, Georgia hosted by Michelle Williams of Destiny’s Child and Malcolm Jamal Warner. Immediately following the awards ceremony there was the “Afterglow” afterparty hosted by DJ Frankski and Stephanie Mills as the featured talent.

Music lovers nationally are aware of Stephanie Mills, Tisha Campbell and Holly Robinson Peete’s common love of music. The three nationally known superstars also share the title “super moms” of 3 incredibly amazing children diagnosed with autism since they were toddlers. These ladies have leaned on each other over the years and have formed a sisterhood as a result of this because they shared similar stories and experiences which created a personal bond over the years.

“When I first spoke to my doctor and got the news, Holly was the first person I called on the phone and cried to and had lots of questions. She and her husband talked to me and told me that everything would be fine and they held my hand through the process,”- exclaimed Tisha Campbell.

The crowd looked on in amazement when Stephanie Mills called Holly Robinson Peete to the stage to sing with her. Holly started off shy but once she got warmed up she quickly passed the mic back. Next Stephanie called Tisha Campbell to come on stage as she was in the front row in the audience swaying back and forth reciting all the old school jams with the “When I Think of Home” artist.

Unfortunately, Mills had to give the crowd a little message about respect. She reminded them how things were back in the day when the late Coretta Scott King took to the stage and began to speak; there was not a peep in the room. “That’s because people had respect in the era when we grew up. I need you to remain silent when I’m performing on this stage or leave the room,” advised the legendary Stephanie Mills.
