GLAAD, the world’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) media advocacy organization, hosted its second star-studded pre-annual Media Awards celebration, billed the GLAAD Honors, at Grandmaster Recorders in Hollywood, California, on March 29.

Hollywood’s Black talents are still reeling from the excitement of being in attendance at the celebration, honoring Black, LGBTQ+ GLAAD Media Awards nominees.

Attendees included stars such as actors Nicco Annan Jerri Johnson Jussie Smollet , TV Personality TS Madison and Rapper Kidd Kenn, among others.

This is the second year that GLAAD’s Communities of Color and Media Director Dashawn Usher, Associate Director Julian Walker, and Junior Associate Kayla Thompson have hosted this honorary celebration of Black LGBTQ+ talents in media and entertainment.

Furthering GLAAD’s Communities of Color and Media department’s commitment to elevating the voices of Black queer talent, Usher surprised guests with the announcement of its first Black Queer Creative Summit, slated to launch in Los Angeles on September 14, 2023 and conclude on September 17th, 2023.

The three-day summit will host Black LGBTQ+ creators for workshops, networking, and opportunities with industry insiders for personal and professional development.

Other distinguished guests of the evening included  Rashaad Newsome, Jayce Baron, Pierre Phipps, Greg Mathis Jr., Ashley Marie Preston, Brandon Anthony, Shar Jossell, Mike Gauyo, Peter Dodd, Directors Elegance Bratton, Patrik Ian Polk, Anthony M. Hemingway, Nathan Hale Williams, Alexander King, Micheal Donte and Olivia Peace.

Also in attendance were actors Brandon Black, Bernard David Jones, Philemon Chambers, James Bland, Elijah Boothe, Devere Rogers, Alexandra Grey, media personality Terrell Grice; artist/creative director Victor Jackson; models and actors Isis King, Laith Ashley, music artists Durand Bernarr, and Jeronelle and amongst others.

Upon arrival, guests enjoyed cocktails, networking, light bites, and music by DJ DarJar.
