The Bill Pickett Invitational Rodeo (BPIR) continues to promote, train and celebrate Black Cow Boys and Cow Girls by ensuring that their significant contributions to the west do not go unnoticed.

This is evident by the many cultural events put on by the BPIR, which are aimed at preserving the connection between the Black community and the western culture, through edutainment.

Black Cow Boys and Cow Girls are still active today and are much involved in activities such as training horses, and rodeos and continuing that legacy and tradition, the BPIR notes.

BPIR president and CEO, Valerie Howard- Cunningham says it’s more like a family, with people encouraging, inspiring, and assisting each other.
