Earlier this week, I jetted over to Nashville, TN for the red carpet premiere and celebration of Beautifully Broken, a new, faith-based film derived from the true story of Randy Hartley and William Mwizer and the unorthodox experiences that fostered a unique and inspiring friendship between the two.
Filmed in South African and Louisiana, the film premiered in Nashville due to the significance the city plays in the film. Going to see it, of course, will connect all the geographical dots!
While the sun set on The Factory in Nashville, the star power rose as the diverse cast, celebrity influencers and industry veterans gathered to welcome the new story of forgiveness and hope into a social climate that desperately needs a bit of both.
Randy Hartley, Executive Producer and inspiration behind one of the main characters, spoke on the purpose behind the film and offered, “It was a healing process that made my family and I grateful for the journey and where its led us. Indeed, it’s deeply personal, but we share it because the world needs it. Scott William Winters, who plays Hartley in the film, also spoke to Hartley’s courage and stated, “I learned a lot about this man’s story in bringing him to life on the big screen, but the most important thing I learned was to never give up.”
Michelle Duffie, a celebrated savant in the faith-based community and producer of the film, offers, “Right now, because of the sensitivity with refugees and immigrants This movie shines light on what we look at as a pandemic is actually our brother. Sister or neighbor. They aren’t the enemy. Its about offering a helping hand and the magic and love that can be birthed from that grace.”
The movie also features title song “Beautifully Broken,” performed by three artists each lending their voice to a unique version of the song, which incorporates all three musical stylings. Grammy Award- winning country artist, John Berry, Dove Award-winning pop singer Plumb and Grammy Award-winning gospel artist CeCe Winans. The song is produced by award-winning producer, Chuck Howard, who also co-wrote the film. Regarding the song, Winans states, “The message in this sing is timely and will touch every heart, no matter who you are. It’s encouraging, and more importantly, uplifting.”
