Walt Disney Imagineering Senior Producer
It’s great to see black women emerging as key faces in STEM fields, and Charita Carter is one such face you’ll need to know. The Walt Disney Imagineering senior producer is one of the leading minds behind the Orlando park’s newest ride, Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway. Carter, a 22-year Disney employee, actually started out in accounting before she found herself offering her talents to the creative department. And now, overseeing everything from conception to final executions,
Carter has helped to innovate the park’s first Mickey Mouse–themed ride-through attraction.
“As one of our design philosophies, we wanted to make sure we used the right tool for the right job,” Carter says, while maintaining the surprise about the immersive experience that awaits new riders. “And we wanted to really create an environment and experience that was worthy of Mickey and Minnie.” —N.H.R.
