Earth Day is April 22, 2015. Take a pledge to make your life a little greener
and burn a few more calories in the process. Here’s how:
1. Plant a Garden — You’re not only tending a sustainable food source, but gardening (watering, planting, pulling weeds, raking, etc.) can burn 200 to 400 calories per hour.
2. Walk Your Errands — Instead of constantly driving for short-trip errands, cut down on fuel usage and greenhouse gas emissions by walking. A three-mile round-trip walk can burn around 250 calories.
3. Eat Less Meat — The global meat and diary industries area among the largest contributors to global warming. Cutting out or, at the very least, cutting down on your consumption of diary and meats can not only reduce your carbon footprint but also reduce your intake of saturated fats.
