In four short years, the Made Man initiative has collected more than 22,000 suits donated to male students, provided mentorship to more than 15,000 students and sponsored more than 6,000 students who utilize the Common Black College Application to apply to 53 HBCUs, free of charge.
Black excellence isn’t just a mantra, it’s the way of life for Ky Dele, CEO of Blueprint Global Group, a one-stop branding, marketing and development shop.
After years of bringing out the best in her business clients, Dele would find her passion in bringing out the best in the community.
The Made Man Foundation, a nonprofit organization started by Dele, provides a sustainable solution to community empowerment that upholds the principle that giving back is not only a lifestyle but also a responsibility.
Working with everything from small businesses to major corporations, Dele has seen what powerful leaders can do. And if great leadership can mold a company, why couldn’t these same leaders also transform, inspire and empower a community? With that question in mind, Dele wanted to start the Foundation to bridge the gap between underserved males and black men who have so much to give to the communities that raised them.
The Made Man Foundation supports the narrative that our African American men are successful leaders, influencers and pillars of the community. The Made Man initiative honors African American males who not only are positive role models but also make a difference in the lives of at-risk black teens and young adults. In four short years, the Made Man initiative has collected more than 22,000 suits donated to male students, provided mentorship to more than 15,000 students and sponsored more than 6,000 students who utilize the Common Black College Application to apply to 53 HBCUs, free of charge.
The organization’s ability to reach into the community and elevate it is nothing short of inspiring. The foundation is a community tour held in major cities that includes a series of day-long events and community engagement programming in which black male leaders volunteer their resources to empower underserved black male youth and young adults in local schools and community organizations through motivational workshops and mentoring. Because first impressions are everything, the Made Man Foundation also ensures that our young men look the part by donating gently used suits.
The Made Man Foundation doesn’t just seek to enhance the lives of our youth; its mission and vision have evolved and go beyond youth to include global initiatives and impact.
A powerhouse, Dele leads by example. She doesn’t just talk about the importance of education. She has an extensive list of accomplishments that include a Masters of Science in education, a Masters of Arts in psychology from New York University and, to top it off, a doctoral candidacy for clinical psychology. Dele is the living, breathing personification of black excellence. The fact that she has found time to give back in a way that makes a huge impact speaks volumes to the woman she is and the love she has for her community.
