Communication is the bridge that connects where you are with where you desire to be. For women, communicating well is a critical factor that determines how much money we stand to make during our lifetime. Success isn’t just about ideas. It’s about being able to sell those ideas. Communicating is actually our strongest asset. By balancing facts with feeling, we can elevate our approach and, as a result, elevate our outcomes. Here are a few strategies to become a stronger, more effective communicator in the marketplace.
Simplify your statements.
Focus primarily on information relevant to the issue at hand. Avoid wasting time with idle chatter that can make you look unprepared or lacking in confidence.
Lead with logic.
Minimize emotion and focus on the rationale for your viewpoints. By doing so, you remove the need for personal validation of opinions, which can spiral into less productive conversations.
The best response to disagreements is to give solution-oriented opinions. Don’t be afraid to go against the grain; people will respect you.
When you speak from the heart and believe in what you have to share, you naturally exude more confidence. Most hang-ups come from trying to guess what you think you should say versus just saying (tactfully) what needs to be said.
