And she has the track record to prove it. From fashion modeling and singing in Japan to headlining on Broadway, Ash’s comedic abilities have also been featured on television’s MADtv and The Big Gay Sketch Show. Despite the competitive nature of her career, she says her transition from Broadway to television and now feature films has been a relatively smooth one.
“I truly believe that if it’s for you, it doesn’t matter if there is one opportunity,” she says. “That opportunity is going to be yours.”
The pre-med graduate is fluent in Japanese and cites her adaptability as a strength in a sometimes harsh industry.
“Rejection is just something you have to accept,” explains the free-spirited beauty. “Everybody is not going to like you. Everybody is not going to want you. You have to want to do it for something greater than yourself.”
Ash is currently filming her second big-screen release, Random, a psychological thriller produced by Harvey Weinstein, and will return to her Broadway roots as Nina Simone in an upcoming production.
“I really hope to give of myself completely and freely in absolutely every project that I do and stand out,” she says. “I hope people will always think of me as somebody that was an inspiration. That’s who I do all this for.”
