On Wednesday night author, entrepreneur, model and The Real Housewives of Atlanta star, Cynthia Bailey, hosted the Atlanta screening of the anticipated film, 12 Years a Slave at Atlantic Station’s Regal Cinemas. While numerous celebs strutted the red carpet (including Black Nativity’s Jacob Latimore, R&B singer RL, actress/singer Demetria McKinney and soul singer Angie Stone among others), the mood was decidedly somber following the screening of the powerful, chilling film, which is based on the 1853 autobiography by Solomon Northup, Twelve Years a Slave: Narrative of Solomon Northup. “It seems kind of silly to even ask whether or not your liked the movie,” a teary-eyed Bailey quipped following the screening before introducing the panelists who hosted a short Q&A about the importance of the film. 12 Years a Slave opens Oct. 18.
After drafting the fresh and flagrant King of the South, T.I. for our September/October 2013 cover shoot, we resolved that the only place that could embellish his swag, was the ultra stylish W Hotel in Midtown Atlanta. Lights, Boxes of designers duds, an eager team and a very impressive fireplace (yes, we lit a fire at the top of summer just because we could) all played host to main man and the rest is now cemented in history. We’ve lifted the ropes and you’ve been granted access. Check out behind the scenes pics below.
